Common questions
Good questions.
Clear answers.
Understand the limits of medical documentation before seeking a note, form or report.
Can I book a doctor or buy a note today?
No. doctorsnote.ca is currently developing physician partnerships. Patient bookings, payment and medical-document uploads are not available. Existing health-care providers can help with current clinical needs.
Is a note guaranteed after an assessment?
No. A physician must decide whether they have enough evidence and whether the requested document is appropriate. Paying for an assessment cannot buy a particular conclusion.
Can a physician document an earlier illness?
Only where the available evidence supports the statement. The document must accurately distinguish what was assessed, when it was assessed, and any history reported by the patient. It must never falsely imply an examination happened earlier.
Does my employer actually need a sick note?
Not always. Some jurisdictions limit when an employer may request medical evidence. The applicable employment law, leave category, collective agreement and whether the employer is federally regulated all matter. Use the provincial guidance and check with the relevant labour authority.
Are the medical visit and the document the same service?
Not necessarily. A medically necessary assessment may be insured while a third-party document is uninsured. A physician must verify the exact payer and service classification; a paid document must not disguise a charge for insured care.
Can an online physician complete any form?
No. The clinician needs appropriate licensing, competence, evidence and assessment conditions. Some forms require a treating relationship, physical examination, specialist input or designated examiner.
Can a letter omit my diagnosis?
The clinician should discuss the recipient’s requirements and limit disclosure appropriately. Many work documents focus on functional restrictions rather than detailed diagnoses. Any disclosure needs the appropriate consent or legal authority.
Who decides whether the document is accepted?
The recipient—such as an employer, school, insurer or government program—decides acceptance and eligibility. A physician provides clinical evidence, not a guarantee of a third-party outcome.
Will my medical information go to a sales CRM?
This public site does not collect patient health information. Its physician partnership enquiry is professional contact only. A clinical service would require a separately reviewed medical-record and privacy system.
What if I need urgent care?
This site is not an emergency or crisis service. Call 911 for an emergency or use local urgent-care services. Do not delay medical attention while looking for paperwork.
