Provincial & territorial guidance

British Columbia

Local documentation considerations for MSP and CPSBC.

Fees and coverage

Certificates and forms can be uninsured. Confirm the service is not paid by MSP or another insurer, disclose the fee and consider ability to pay.

Confirm the actual document, insured assessment, public-plan eligibility and any other payer. No patient fee is approved simply by selecting a province.

Physician authority and care

Confirm CPSBC registration or a documented applicable exception; establish appropriate in-person follow-up.

Verify the clinician’s current registration, identity, competence and patient-location rules. Plan for examination, follow-up and local urgent care when needed.

Workplace documentation

B.C. restricts practitioner-note requests for the first two short health-related absences of five consecutive days or fewer in a calendar year. Confirm the exact leave and absence history.
